Mr. Hibberd has over 15 years of experience in business strategy and corporate development and is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Astute Medical, Inc. He also serves as a Non Executive Director on the Board of UK based Oxford BioTherapeutics. Prior to Astute Medical, he worked for 10 years at Biosite Incorporated, as SVP Corporate Development, where he was responsible for the identification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities including technology acquisitions, partnerships and alliances as well as for developing long-range strategic plans. Prior to joining Biosite Incorporated, he was manager at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and was responsible for leading international consultants and client case teams in developing and implementing value-creating strategies for businesses in a variety of industry sectors. Prior to that he held consulting positions at various companies and also was a development engineer for Albright & Wilson Americas from 1987 to 1990.
Mr. Hibberd received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada and earned an MBA from the University of Western Ontario, Canada.
Dr. McPherson has over 25 years experience in research and development and is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Astute Medical, Inc. Prior to Astute Medical, Inc. he was Vice President of Research and Development at Biosite Incorporated. During his 14 years at Biosite, Dr. McPherson played a key role in the development and commercialization of the Biosite Triage® Meter Platform and the Biosite Triage® family of point-of-care immunoassay products. He led a diverse 85 person research and development team to identify, develop and validate new biomarkers and successfully developed and launched 8 FDA-cleared products. He has over 25 issued and pending US patents in areas ranging from immunoassay readers to novel biomarker content in a variety of disease areas. Prior to Biosite, he was a Post-Graduate Research Physicist at the University of California, San Diego where he conducted and published research on the biophysics of photosynthesis.
Dr. McPherson earned a Ph.D. in Physics (Biophysics) from the University of California, San Diego and a B.A. in Physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Mr. Myers is a financial executive with significant management experience in both public and private life science companies. Most recently, Mr. Myers was the Chief Financial Officer of Nexus Biosystems, a provider of enabling technologies and automated sample management systems for pharmaceutical, biotech, agrichemical and research institutions worldwide. Prior to Nexus, he was the Chief Financial Officer of SGX Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly-traded biotechnology company focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of cancer therapeutics where he was significantly involved in the sale of SGX to Eli Lilly & Company in 2008. Prior to SGX, as the Director of Finance at CombiChem, Inc, a publicly-traded computational drug discovery company, Mr. Myers managed all financial operations and was the senior financial representative on the team responsible for the sale of the company to DuPont Pharmaceuticals in 1999. He was also the Chief Financial Officer of FeRx Incorporated, a privately-held, clinical stage company focused on the development of oncology products, and he has held positions with Premier Inc. and with Ernst & Young LLP.
Mr. Myers is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California and received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Illinois.
